Rapid Impact Compaction (RIC) Turkey - HENGDA rapid impact compactors

Rapid impact compaction (RIC) is a technique similar to Dynamic Compaction in that can be used to increase the bearing capacity of soils through controlled impact. RIC treatment is effective in the top layers up to 6m depth, but improvements up to 9m have been achieved. A drop weight of 12 tonne is dropped 1.5m onto a special foot assembly 40-90 times a minute.

The working principle of Rapid Impact Compactor (RIC) isdifferent from dynamic compaction. The acting force of RIC is acomposite force of static (gravity) and dynamic (variable force), andthe main acting force is dynamic. It belongs to dynamic compaction(from accelerating movement to decelerating movement).

Control: the machine is accurately controlled from the excavator cab and the degreeof compaction is electronically monitored,

Safety: the impact foot is in contact with the ground at all times and eliminates therisk of flying debris. Unlike conventional dynamic compaction, other activities can takeplace in close proximity,

Quality assurance: the impact energy and soil deflection are recorded by an on-boardcomputer for presentation of compaction data to site managers.Results can verifywork done to the client. The data can also highlight weak zones where extra fill isrequired，or zones where underground obstructions were present (eg. previouslyhidden old foundations),

Mobilisation: the RIC units are mounted on excavatorsand can be mobilised within minutes of arrival on site,

Speed & cost: due to the fast ground coverage and the compaction efficiency，RIC generates a significant cost and time saving over conventional dynamic compactionmethods with up to 75% cost and 100% time savings.

RIC has been successfully used to consolidate gravel, sands, silts,miscellaneous sand-silt-clay and industrial and mining waste fills. The ability to dump and compact sand orstone to depths of up to 6m simplifies remediation practices.
